Digital Cuneiform
Product design

Museum objects can be loaned, be too fragile to transport, or simply be desired by several museums at the same time. These problems could be solved by digitization of heritage institution around the world. These new opportunities not only offer a good alternative to expensive loan traffic.
A broader view of digitization, tells us that we can reach a wider experience of objects. Information about a museum object supplemented by a digital scan, can be fused together online and lead to an object which may be experienced more substantial than before.
A concrete example is the first written culinary book. This clay tablet is written in cuneiform script around 1700 BC. The tablet is located at Yale University - New Haven. The object is too fragile to transport, but the Worldmuseum will present it soon. The combination of a digital scan, the translation of the cuneiform and a visual presentation generates a broader perception of the culinary book.
